Before Hospice

The time before hospice can feel uncertain — a diagnosis has been given, but the path forward isn’t always clear. This service is about helping you prepare in advance, so you’re not caught off guard. Together, we’ll look at the essential documents that need to be in place, the important questions to ask, and the conversations to have with your loved one as well as the family.

With the right preparation, tools, and guidance, you can reduce stress, avoid regret, and focus on what truly matters. My role is to make sure you feel equipped and supported every step of the way.

During Hospice

When hospice care begins, families often find themselves with more support, but the process can still feel overwhelming. You may have questions like: What is hospice? How do I know it’s time? What can I expect as my loved one declines? These are common concerns, and addressing them is essential.

With strategic and compassionate guidance, this service is designed to help you navigate these uncertainties with clarity and confidence.

Together, we’ll talk through what to expect, how to communicate effectively with the hospice team, and how to stay prepared as changes occur.

You’ll feel less overwhelmed and more confident as you walk alongside your loved one during this stage.

After Hospice

Losing a loved one is one of life’s hardest challenges. Families often face the reality of what needs to be done next while also grieving. Funeral planning, paperwork, and family decisions can feel overwhelming, especially when emotions are high. This part of my service helps you move through those first steps with clarity and care, so important choices aren’t made in haste or regret.

Grace comes from knowing you did the best you could with the circumstances in front of you. Together, we’ll handle the practical tasks, explore meaningful ways to honor your loved one through legacy work, and focus on how families can support each other during this time. You’ll feel supported as you manage both the logistics and the emotions that come after hospice.

Connect with me to ask your questions, and get clear on next steps in receiving end-of-life support & care for yourself or a loved one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What exactly does an end-of-life guide do?

I provide families with compassionate guidance, practical tools, and preparation before, during, and after hospice. My role is not medical care — it’s about helping you navigate decisions, conversations, and practical matters so you feel supported and prepared through each stage of the journey.

Q. How do I know if it’s time to start working with you?

Many families reach out after a serious diagnosis, when the path forward feels uncertain. You don’t have to wait until hospice begins. Starting earlier helps reduce stress, avoid regret, and make sure your loved one’s wishes are honored.

Q. As a death doula do you replace the role of hospice?

No. Hospice provides medical care and a team of professionals. My services complement hospice by helping families prepare beforehand, communicate effectively with the hospice team, and navigate the emotional and practical needs that arise alongside care.

Q. Can you help us know what to ask and say with medical providers and our loved one?

Yes. Families often feel unprepared for important conversations. I guide you in knowing what questions to ask medical providers, what conversations to have with your loved one, and how to communicate as a family so everyone feels heard and supported.

Q. How can your end of life doula services help after my loved one dies?

After hospice, families are left with both grief and the reality of what needs to be done next. Funeral planning, paperwork, and family decisions can feel overwhelming when emotions are high. I help you move through these steps with clarity and care, while also guiding legacy work and encouraging ways to support one another through this time.

Q. Do you work only with families in hospice?

No. I work with families before, during, and after hospice. Each stage brings its own needs — from preparation and planning to communication and legacy. My role is to make sure you feel supported and prepared, wherever you are in the journey.

"Preparing ahead means you’ll be able to truly be present when it matters most."
